What fizzles out as easily as it is ignited? If you’ve said love, you gave the correct answer. Ironically though, love is strong, love is enduring, it is everything good rolled into a single emotion and yet, it can be lost abruptly without a hint of warning.

To start things off, you need to establish the reason for the breakup. You shouldn’t try to figure out who was to blame for the breakup, but rather, you should try to analyze what led to the breakup from a third person’s perspective.

Looking back and even thinking about your ex at this point might be very difficult for you, but you have to realize that you can’t fix a thing until you know what needs fixing. So grab a cup of coffee and pull up a chair, all you have to do is remember.

What all of these will lead to is an apology and an apology with no condition attached at that. You might have apologized a hundred times to try to win back your lost love, but you’ve made those apologies hoping or pleading for your ex to come back to you. The apology came with a fine-print and no one likes conditional mea culpa with selfish motive.

“I’m sorry for everything and now please come back to me” and “I’m sorry, we no longer share the same future but still, I wanted to let you know that I am sorry” sound very different even though both sentence is trying to accomplish the same thing, an apology. I know for the most part, you won’t just rush in and tell your ex “sorry and please come back to me”, but believe me you, your ex knows why you are apologizing and he or she will look right thru you.

I know it’s hard, but just for a day take the good from your broken up relationship and accept the reality that you are no longer together with your lover. Now think of everything that you might want to apologize to your ex for and shrink it down to few things that you feel were the most important to your ex.

The final step is to apologize to your ex and this time, apologize for the sake of letting your ex know how regretful you are about your mistakes. Today is the day you breathe for your ex, today you do not think about your own selfish need, and today you make an apology because an apology is due.

If you’ve truly lived a day for your ex and you’ve emptied your mind of self-serving motivations, your ex will feel your apology in its truest of form. This is the reset button for you and your ex, be truthful to your ex from this point on forward to win back your lost love.
